The use of the fist in posters started with the Boxer Rebellion in northern China in the late 1800s or early 1900s IIRC.
Interesting..... the Boxer Rebellion got its name from Western translations of the insurgent group’s name, “Righteous Harmonious Fists”.
But the clenched fist salute has been a Communist trademark since, when, the Russian Revolution?
Anyway, what’s it doing here in America in political posters? This isn’t 1969. But for some (ahem, ahem) it’s never stopped being 1969. Won’t name names of the usual suspects.
Interesting tidbit of info. Thanks.
