Can’t you just say on the phone, the same stuff that you’d put in the e-mail? Like, I’ll get it later and send it to you.

Just sounds a little weird to have to psychologically gear up to talk to someone.

I watch my friends that are 20 years younger than me screen their calls like the school truant officer might be calling, these are the usual tattooed, macho, 30 somethings of modern America but their fear of answering the phone seems incredibly sissified. To me it is like looking out the window to see if you should open your own front door or not, or pretend not to be home.

The only time I dread phone calls is if a telemarketer gets through my defenses OR if a long-winded relative or person calls me and I feel like I CAN’T get away. I was taught that phone calls need to be limited to five minutes, which is plenty of time to say what you need to say. Otherwise, they can be really intrusive.
