There was no stumbling and mumbling, just a simple declaration of fact. Ft. Sumter was US government property and no one in South Carolina had any right to demand its surrender. And when they chose to use force, they got more than they expected.

Just out of curiosity, the Cuban government has long demanded that Guantanamo Bay be abandoned. Would you support their right to begin shelling the base?
