How can you understand Rove’s reaction?
He is a political operative, whose job is to influence the outcome of elections.
And he is doing his best to do just that, and stop O’Donnell in her tracks. Rove is worthy only of scorn for that. He is purposefully trying to throw the election for the GOP in Delaware.
He pitched a temper tantrum and said, “if I don’t get my guy, I’m going to scorch the earth!”
But he did it AFTER the votes were counted.
He’s not stupid. He knew what he was doing.
And that is why if you understand it and sympathize with him, then you are as contemptable as he is.
Rove has been involved for years in doing his best to engineer Republican majorities (with varying levels of success, to be sure). He sees a candidate go down that he thinks is a shoe-in for one whom he thinks won’t win, and it’s disappointing to him. Doesn’t mean he’s right, or that he conducted himself in exactly the way I would have preferred, but, yeah, I understand his human reaction, and consider him in the totality of who I think he is and what he’s done, rather than a single snapshot in time.
Surely, you and your ex-Wiccan candidate can appreciate that...
You know, I’ve been in many more heated bulletin board debates than this, and I’ve never felt compelled to call my opponent a POS or contemptible, particularly with someone who professes to believe the same things I do. What motivates a person, anyway?
