Another American Al-Qaedan Arrested Abroad.
Wading Across Blog, via Wall Street Journal ^ | 10-1-10 | Wading Across

...Well, today I’ve come across an article from the Wall Street Journal noting that a Muslim with connections to Al Qaeda was arrested in Spain. He’s a U.S. citizen of Algerian origin. What makes the article noteworthy to me is that at the very end, the author comments that at one time Mr. Debhi lived in Katy, TX.

I had previously commented on the issue of Muslims and a mosque in Katy, urging caution, pause and more importantly, Christian love, seeing a mission opportunity. As I noted however, if something insidious is going on in the Muslim community in Katy, it needs to be investigated and uprooted. We cannot allow terrorism to grow unchecked in our midst. We cannot wait for something horrible to happen. We must be proactive. That said, it must be within the law, with care.

Do not use this news as a platform for anything untoward (hateful and unChristian) against Muslims in general, specifically those in Katy, TX. But perhaps a more focused eye does need to be kept on Katy and its Muslim community. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if the FBI is already on it.

It has probably already made the news cycle on FR, but I felt it needs to get "bumped" freshly. I've been somewhat interested in the story of Katy, TX and the Muslims there since the pig race controversy.

SNIPPET: “BARCELONA: A US citizen was arrested in this Spanish city for sending money to al-Qaida’s North African branch, police said.

Mohamed Omar Debhi, who is of Algerian descent, is accused of sending more than 60,000 euros to the al-Qaida Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), which is based in Algeria.

Debhi, 43, was arrested in the Esplugues de Llobregat district, where he is a resident. He also faces charges of possessing a false ID and defrauding Spanish social security services.

He is alleged to have sent money via a bank transaction to a fugitive Algerian militant named by police as Toufik Mizi.”

I had forgotten the whole mosque/pig race brouhaha. Just looked it up this is from an article dated Sept.8th

“The mosque in Katy, Texas, draws about 500 people for Friday prayers, the Houston Chronicle reported. Its facilities consist of two portable structures, one for the mosque and the other for a school.”

Friend at church regularly asks for prayers for the muslims he talks to while mall walking. Just didn't realize that community was so large.

Seems like they’re coalescing in Katy, for us people that live in the Houston area...that is how they operate - find a weak town and move in on a continuous basis.

I just looked up Katy on Google Maps. Just outside the Houston loop, and an easy drive to the port area. Not that bad guys would EVER use our commercial transportation system to create mayhem......

An easy drive anywhere(well not traffice wise LOL)! It is just south of I-10, and ironically next to George Bush Park.
