Sign the Alliance petition and tell the politicians in Washington, no more $200,000 bonuses and no more death tax for families.

” Death Bonuses for Senators, “
My first thought, on seeing the ‘death bonuses’ headline, was along the lines of ‘bounty’, like they usedta pay for varmint heads, back in the old times.... ;)

I disagree. The death bonus for senators is a useful incentive; lots of them need to go. The death penalty for others is the best part of ObamaCare; it may promote longer lives, at least until the death penalty itself dies.

I point out that when the GOP controlled all three branches of the government from 2000 to 2006, they did absolutely NOTHING to end this wasteful and corrupt practice.
WTF do Senators, who are among the upper crust of income earners, need a freakin’ DEATH BONUS for?!?
Now if certain Senators were being offered a bonus to off themselves, that would be a different matter.
The head rots from the head down, and it’s been rotting for a lotta years, it didn’t just start in January 2009.

That is a real and good issue.
BUT, why not just have a petition that is plain and basic??
Like a petition they gave KING JOHN???
NO MORE LAWS THAT DON’T INCLUDE CONGRESS!!!!!
They CAN NOT exempt themselves. NO MORE!!!!
THAT would be a better petition.

To keep from going insane and having reached that point where I can no longer rationally respond to these continual assaults, I think a detox from all communication is in order. Instead of the internet and Fox and FreeRepublic I think I just need to immerse myself in a bunch of novels until the midterms are over.

Do we know voting results by individual Senator?

The GOP should not compromise on the death tax issue. It should be total elimination and no 3.5 or 5 million exemption. If the GOP presses strong and long enough, the democrats will concede.

$193,400 is the annual pay of the majority leader. My guess is that members are provided with a life insurance benefit equal to one year's pay. I know Byrd was not the majority leader, but his tenure and rank may have warranted a similar salary, and hence life insurance benefit.
Such an arrangement is not unusual in the private sector (actually, multiples of annual salary are frequently the benefit). I'm not going to get too worked up over this.

I agree we need some more direct source info, but it is odd as described.
If it were from an insurance policy, the policy would pay. No need to vote on it.

Just confirmed Byrd made $193,400. Wasn’t life insurance, but it is apparently a long standing practice of the Senate that when a member dies in office, one year’s salary is dispensed to the immediate family. Not agreeing with it, just stating what it is.

Know that my question was pretty stupid - but somebody had to ask. Already sent a blistering email to Cornyn, Hutchinson and McConnell. If they were covered by Social Security they would get $250.00 - even that is too much for the likes of these pirates!
