I think it is 100% impossible to protect your own children. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

I remember the story of a soldier who went on tour in Iraq. He came back to discover that his 3 year old daughter was brutally murdered by relatives who seemed trustworthy to him. Was it his fault?

Of course it's impossible to protect your children 100%. And yes, life often isn't fair. You know this, or you would be on DU and not FR.

That being said - if you let the inability to achieve 100% certainty paralyze your enjoyment of life, it's time to rethink your approach.

Hmmm...and reading some of your other posts, I can see that at the very least, you have no particular personal problem with me, so I'm pleased that I haven't offended you.

Nonetheless - given your current outlook, I would strongly recommend an appeal to logic on one particular issue. I would be curious to know your view of anti-depressants, and whether or not you think they are ever useful. It seems that if you already view the world as unredeemable, and a speedy death is preferable (as you seem to say elsewhere) - then I wonder if they would be worth trying (or have you already)?
