As if the White House didn’t have enough to worry about, a recent Gallup poll piled on bad news for President Obama. At the beginning of 2010 the president enjoyed support from 69% of Hispanics. By May that number was down to 57%. Now just 55% of Hispanics support the president and his liberal agenda. This news by itself is devastating to the Democrats’ prospects in the 2010 midterm elections.
But what’s going on behind the numbers could possibly be a harbinger of doom for Obama’s re-election in 2012. Across the country conservative Latino organizations are springing up as fast as illegal immigrants are streaming across the border. And these organizations are not content to just conduct meetings and complain about the liberal takeover in Washington. Some are taking action. In Dallas, Amigos de Patriots is launching an online and TV ad campaign called “Vote your Values, Vote Conservative.” The idea is to remind Hispanics that their ancestors fled countries where prosperity was killed by left-wing regimes. The 30-second spots also take on social issues like abortion, a practice that is dear to liberals and Democrats but that the Latino community at large finds offensive.
Another organization is the Conservative Hispanic Society (CHS). This group boasts thousands of paid members in nearly all 50 states, and its recent campaigns have urged Latinos to “Vote Your Values.” The reasoning is that Hispanics are conservative on many issues.

In Colorado Springs, MOST Hispanics vote Republican. My mayor is a Hispanic Republican, My GOP county chairman is a Hispanic Republican, my city councilman is a black Republican. Dangdest place in America-—and I like it.
Even if support for Obama is down to 55%, most latinos will vote democrat, just as sure as the sun will set in the west tomorrow.
What I find amusing is that Dear Leader is such a sh*t stain and failure that they’ll push him aside for Hillary in 2012. Then the blacks will stay home or vote GOP in spite, giving us back EVERY branch of government!!
The only Azatlan/La Raza types I've actually met are in academia, and they were all born here.
My daughter-in-law is part Mexican; her immediate family votes conservative. I don’t know about the rest of them.
Looks like the spiel shine is wearing off and has to be reported despite the heroic attempts of Democrats to keep it buffed up.
If 51% of the Hispanic vote vote for Obama, and 49% vote against him, that is a net margin for Obama of 2% of the Hispanic vote. The Hispanic vote is about 10% of the national vote, so 2% of 10% is 2/10’s of 1% of the national vote, spread around most of the American people, politically inconsequencial.
To compare, the old 70% support figuring would be: 70% for Obama, 30% against, a net margin of 40$ of the Hispanic Vote. 40% of 10% is 4% of the national vote, this is nearly half as large as the net 8% of the national vote produced by African American Obamaites, and would have been signifigant.
The decline for support for Obama among Jews is less important in terms of votes, but Jews have made a large part of Democrat financial support and support among American elites.
The somewhat less dramatic loss of support for Obama among Catholics is primarily important politically since it brings them into political agreement with evangelical Protestants, and distances them further from high church protestants, who tend to be theologically more in agreement with Catholicism.
The long time prospects are that Hispanics, Jews, and Catholics will become more involved as part of the ‘American’ party, which has been the Republicans since the time of McKinley.

The Hispanic American-Americans in Texas are conservatives and do a lot to teach newbies to be free. We have our communists, as well but they have to go to California or the East Coast to find a great following. American-Americans laugh at them - in Spanish - here where I live.

Latinos who came here legally came to a free nation and they want it to stay that way. They know, first hand, from their Mother country, what chaos can emerge when basic freedoms are taken away by the criminal elements, whether they exist in society or in government or in a combination of both. Most of their moral beliefs are centered in Conservatism.
I never understood why many assumed that Latinos would reflexively vote Dem because of lib positions on immigration. Some of the legal hispanics I know (and I live in New Mexico)got priced out of the construction trade by illegals. The illegals also move into latino neighborhoods and bring the accompanying problems.
