This is some sort of psy-op, not necessarily directed at conservative websites like this.
There’s substantial indirection as we would assume anyone of intelligence would use. As a prior poster observed, there’s no reason to assume that an office in the White House was used for the interview. The “insider” is a political operative or consultant of some sort so they would not be a federal employee. They would of course know it’s too easy to scrutinize visitor logs.
I’m sure all biographical details have been changed. The Insider states that he(?) has worked all presidential campaigns since 1990. That date alone would be something easily matched against resumes so I don’t accept that date, assuming this person exists.
The Insider would also be aware of semantic analysis, so they would request that their verbatim speech be rewritten. One interesting exercise would be to match the speech of the Insider with the writer of this blog entry or other contributing writers affiliated with the blog.
Obama’s behavior in the meeting is all too believable but word of things like that would quickly radiate outward from the inner circle to the peripheral players. Even if this interview is fiction, embedding nuggets of truth like that would have the White House paranoid, possibly the intended outcome of these postings.
The sketchy biography of the Insider may be true in what little details it has, but it might be the biography of someone else that the Insider would like to come under suspicion. In this case, it’s a ‘two fer.’ Take down an enemy and make the White House paranoid.
Last of all, does the supposed information in these blog posts change the opinion of any Freerepublic reader or will it alter their political behavior in any way? Everyone will still vote the same way and make the same political contributions. Everyone’s opinion of Obama remains unchanged, just slightly more reinforced.
This is the Goddess of Discord tossing the golden apple into the White House ball.
