"Much like Apple's music player, Sony's gadget was near-ubiquitous, got a little smaller over subsequent revisions, and had cheaper competitors that Weren't Quite The Same Thing."

If someone would have quizzed me on this I would have assumed the Walkman was discontinued 10 years ago. I haven’t had a Walkman since the early 1990’s.

cassette to play in it)

Ah, good old days when music was euphonious. I still have the revised model along with old tapes. I should get it out of the drawer!

Guess it’s time to buy a spare, or get off my butt and convert all my cassettes to mp3s.

I was cleaning out boxes this summer when we were moving and found my original Sony Walkman and headphones. I bought it at a shop outside Camp Hansen on Okinawa in 1986. Unfortunately I left the batteries in it and they corroded so I doubt it works.
