California is in a giant hole. And on Tuesday, voters ordered up a fresh round of shovels.
At least San Fran Nan was right on that one--we got exactly what we deserved.
Good one!
Pete Stark has the ignominious distinction of having told a constituent to her face that the federal government in this country can do most anything.
He also told a constituent
“Thank you,’’ Stark replied, “but I wouldn’t dignify you by peeing on your leg. It wouldn’t be worth wasting the urine.’’
I’m kinda curious about what they think they’re going to do now that the rest of the country isn’t likely to bail them out.
I think they voted for the candidate they thought would let the frat party go on the longest.
To put icing on this purely poisonous cake, Madame Boxer was running against a candidate Carly Fiorina who had the rest of us in the other 49 drooling in envy. If only we had had such a powerhouse woman willing to serve us in the U.S. Senate. Not only is Ms. Fiorina an uber-competent, she is brilliant in both the technical and common sense realms. This woman, Carly Fiorina, held in her lovely hand the power to redeem California in the eyes of the other 49 in one fell swoop.
please
The greed of the parasite class is California's problem.
It just KILLS me that even though the highest issue of polled voters was job creation and the economy these fools STILL voted for Boxer.
I mean, HELLO, in all of her years in the senate has her cause EVER been creating jobs? Even once?
Personally, I’d like the EPA to be ordered to let the water flow again to the San Joaquin Valley. You’d be surprised how much good that would do that benighted state.
To be fair I don’t think MA did a whole lot better. They added Republicans to their state house, but didn’t put a single Republican in their DC delegation or into a state-wide position of power [i.e.: auditor, treasurer, governor, etc].
With the gop controlling the House, there will be no bailout if California goes bankrupt. So, could anyone explain to me what form that bankruptcy would take. Would a court take over payments to creditors? Would a judge decide who to pay. Would all the pensions be void? What would actually happen? I ask because California is technically bankrupt, just waiting to file the papers.
Arnie just signed a late budget full of smoke & mirrors and rosy revenue projections. It also included several billion dolars from the feds that you and I know ain’t gonna happen now.Over the last few years of budget deficits, all the easy cuts have been made. I’m gonna guess CA will run out of money early net year and Moonbeam will be face with only hard choices. I amxious to see what he’ll do.
Here is what really happened in CA:
Whitman - Flipfloped on immigration so bad, John Kerry would’ve been embarrased. She opposed prop 23, which was the anti-global warming bill. She is against offshore drilling. She her handling of the Nicky Diaz situation showed she is just clueless, she should’ve stuck a few $$ in Nicky’s pocket and sent her to Mex.
Fiorina: Ran a marginally better campaign, but didn’t have an answer to Boxer’s “HP sent our jobs to China” ad campaign.
State offices for Lt. gov and Insurance commissioner - The repbulicans ran two hacks who broke their no new taxes pledge two years ago.
On the other hand, the voters rejected an $18 per car tax increase for parks and rejected raising taxes on business.
In short, years of servitude and incompetence by the state GOP brought this on. Our only hope is that the new citizen-drawn legislslative and congressional districts will allow some new blood in.
Yeah that para. sucked.
The California GOP will not be getting “new blood”. It is going to become a bigger version of Connecticut, Vermont or Massachussettes. Where even if they manage to find a candidate they will be leftists too.
NY and a few others places also su*ked. Maine and Wisconsin were stellar. FL, OH, IN were also good.
Obama has been bailing out CA, NY, IL and a few other with the Building America Bonds cap. The US Govt pays 35% of the interest and backs the bonds.
So CA, IL and NY have been able to go their merry way.
What will happen? The House GOP will say no, the TV news media will demonize the GOP, show children starving etc etc. This may force the GOP to cave. The GOP then bails em out a little and then the whole house of cards - formerly known as America - crashes.
Keep watching TV folks because your viewership supports them and monthly cable & sat TV supports them as well. .
That and the fact that most people don't follow politics like we do here on FR. Whoever had the best TV commercial got most the votes from the morons.
