What's for breakfast?

Posted on 11/13/2010 2:47:18 AM PST by JoeProBono

"I am in weekday breakfast rut! I need something I can either easily carry or eat/prep quickly. I swear I've had every combination of Publix/Other brand bagels + various cream cheese spreads....gone through tons of cereals, oatmeals, frozen foods. Did the hot pocket thing and/or jimmy dean breakfast d'lite frozen sandwich things for a while.

I'm not against precooking things either! I've hardboiled eggs the night before and peeled them, or cooked noodles or mashed potatoes and just warmed a small portion in the morning. But I'm tired of all of the above. What do you eat for breakfast?"

Beer and cornflakes.

Get the non-sweetened cornflakes. Open the beer the night before so it goes flat.

Pour on cornflakes and consume with black coffee.

emergen-c/tequila/sprite cocktail.

Much healthier than the family’s traditional milk and whiskey breakfast.

Cooked food is overrated, buy high quality liquid multi-vitamin, then eat only trail mix (no sugar, no chocolate), down it with coffee.

If you don’t fast, you don’t have to break it.

We love porridge with real maple syrup and cream. When the oats are soaked over night, it cooks in very little time.

1 cup regular oats
1 cup warm water mixed with 2 Tbls yogurt or kefir
Soak at room temp for at least 7 hours

In the morning boil 1 cup water with 1/2 tsp sea salt. Add oats and cook for a few minutes. Top with the syrup and lots of cream.

Quick cooking oats topped with milk and sugar don't even come close to this.

Left overs can be reheated for another breakfast or used to make fried mush, which tastes much better than it sounds :).
