What's for breakfast?

Posted on 11/13/2010 2:47:18 AM PST by JoeProBono

"I am in weekday breakfast rut! I need something I can either easily carry or eat/prep quickly. I swear I've had every combination of Publix/Other brand bagels + various cream cheese spreads....gone through tons of cereals, oatmeals, frozen foods. Did the hot pocket thing and/or jimmy dean breakfast d'lite frozen sandwich things for a while.

I'm not against precooking things either! I've hardboiled eggs the night before and peeled them, or cooked noodles or mashed potatoes and just warmed a small portion in the morning. But I'm tired of all of the above. What do you eat for breakfast?"

Jacques Pepin right? I always enjoy watching him cook. He seems like he wants to eat what he prepares.

Cold pizza is another breakfast favorite.

I love cold, left-over pasta in the morning.

Don’t want to take this thread off message but just went across the street to get some takeout coffee - I live in NYC part time. Appalled to see huge mounds of garbage piled in the streets and mailboxes sprayed with graffiti. All of this under Mike Bloomberg.

Sorry for the rant! I’ll keep quiet now.

I took my totally Yankee husband to a diner in Montgomery Alabama once. He told the waitress he had never had grits. Imagine our surprise when it was served up to him by the chef and all the waitresses and attendants stood around and watched him take his first bite. Then they all applauded!

It was in Montgomery that I ran across my first slice of Red Velvet Cake.

A big slice of pumpkin pie.

With black coffee, it can't be beat.

Breakfast Burritos are my favorite breakfast fast food.

Sausage eggs an potatoes with hot pace salsa tossed in a pan an scrambled. Add some cheese if wanted as you fold it all into a large fresh tortilla . Perfect on the go or take to work breakfast food.

Where are all the Southerners? Biscuits & gravy are the way to go! Add some crisp hash browns, over easy eggs, crisp bacon, sausage and OJ.

He had his “right of passage.”
The best grits I’ve ever had were while visiting a friend on a farm high in the Blue Ridge. They weren’t store bought but from corn grown on his farm and ground at a nearby mill.
