What Is The Best U.S. State To Move To Insulate Yourself From The Coming Economic Meltdown?

snip

As the economy continues to crumble and as millions of Americans find it nearly impossible to find a good job, many of them have been wondering if things are any better in other parts of the country. And without a doubt, some areas of the U.S. are complete and total disaster zones at this point. For example, so many houses have been abandoned in Detroit that the mayor has proposed bulldozing one-fourth of the city. In Las Vegas, it was estimated that approximately 65 percent of all homes with a mortgage were "underwater" at the height of the housing crash. The number of people unemployed in the state of California is approximately equal to the populations of Nevada, New Hampshire and Vermont combined.

Yeah I’m staying here in Michigan where we’re used to hardship.

Me, too. Nothing like experience to make life easier. Just wish we were further off the Toledo-Detroit corridor.

If there is a real economic meltdown of biblical proportions; then, no state will be safe from the vast mobs of people struggling to survive.

I refuse to live in a County that has a traffic light. Idahoans don't need big brother telling us when to go, when to stop and when to let our neighbor turn.

Yes, have lived in some northern states and did not like it a bit! Was just giving some states that seem to be responsible as to the budget. I agree with you though, if I had to pick a place to live (and hope) it would be a Southern State.

It gets really cold in winter in some of the southern states, too.

I know, but I was in Presque Isle, Maine in January, 2009 and one morning it was 50 degrees below zero...with no wind. that was the real temp. By about 2:00 PM it reaches a high temp of 10 below zero.

I’m not far off the I-94 corridor (about 10 miles) but hardly anyone knows my little town is here. Tiny little towns like this are a great place to be in the event of trouble.

I hadn’t really thought about it before but I think running out and removing all the road signs might not be a bad idea in the event of a real collapse.

Stay where you are:

1) stockpile food and ammo for about three months

2)stay low and hidden..and this can be done in the urban areas...

3)wait it out, while the nutjobs off each other within the first couple of months

With a little luck, the entitlement crowd will eat itself alive and sensible leadership will emerge..

Have faith..and shoot straight.
