No...you aren't just asking why anyone is surprised; you're also asking, in sardonic and ironic tone, whether the new policy of FR is to "completely trash anyone who utters a harsh word about Sarah Palin, right?"
This is a far cry from "just asking why you are so surprised."

I’m not the one with the thin skin. Obviously from what I’ve been thrown here and other threads. I welcome honest debate. I just wonder why you guys can’t take any negative comment about Sarah Palin. She laughs it off..why don’t you? It’s an odd phenomenon where people here feel they need to be protective of her. She’s doing very well on her own! There are valid criticisms of her. Of course this Bush thing was uncalled for. But what do you expect? Her son, Jed, may be running against her. But you guys better get used to it...if she runs...and that’s a big if....it’s going to be nonstop.
I’m more concerned about her media blitz and putting her children out there after saying they are off limits. I think that’s a valid criticism. What say you?
