Quite right. I’m also bothered by anti-intellectualism always evident in science bashing. If folks don’t know anything about science, they should refrain from commenting. I don’t tell my mechanic how to fix a car, I don’t tell my doctor what drugs she should prescribe, and don’t tell my tailor how to make a suit - why does everyone feel free to tell me how to do science?
To a particular element, science has replaced as an authority their favorite shamanistic brotherhood and they can never forgive it for that, or its continued denial of what they would prefer to believe about the age of the Earth and such.
