Except you are only getting one side of the story.
Huckabee did reduce Clemmons sentence in keeping with the guidelines and usual sentences handed out to comparable offenders. He was sentenced to over a hundred years for crimes in which no one was physically harmed.
Second, Huckabee did not pardon Clemmons. He reduced his sentence (and not even to time served, as Governors often do.)
Third, the final decision to parole Clemmons was made by a parole board. There was a public time for comment, and no one came forward to oppose the reduction (or his release, I think).
There were countless other opportunities to hold Clemmons on much severer charges in Arkansas and Washington but the authorities blew it in both places.
Have you read Huckabee’s side of the story:

The details don’t, really matter.
How much are you willing to misstate the truth to defend Huckabee?
He was convicted of “aggravated robbery”, to those of you in Rio Linda “aggravated” usually means violence or the threat of violence accompanied the robbery and in this case he punched a woman in the head as he robbed her for $16 and a credit card.
