Kidnap victim Elizabeth Smart stormed from a courtroom Wednesday as a psychiatrist testified that her alleged attacker had been motivated by a desire to have children and create a new race in an imaginary Zion.

Honestly, who hasn’t been motivated by such desires?
But, on a more serious note, I fail to see why this should be upsetting enough to her to cause her to storm out.
She undoubtedly fears that if they buy off on the idea he's just a crazy guy he will not be put into jail where he belongs.
Smart is a mormon and has been out of ther country on a mormon mission...
she was allowed to come back to the US just for court...
I wonder what her doctor said to set her off...
Painting this criminal premeditating child rapist as a simple crazy old man (in an attempt to get him leniency) would be enough for any woman to walk out.
The guy is a nut. I am not getting why Miss Smart left the court room.
Maybe she’s just legitimately pissed off and upset that the person who kidnapped, raped her and messed up her life had some wacko motive.

What would it take to get all females to understand the traumatic effect that sticking two inches of a ball point pen into a mans neck will have on his erection and his sexual intentions towards the woman in front of him?
It is sickening because psychiatrists are moral relativists who rationalize any behavior to minimize the supreme evil of the person. Who cares what he was thinking....that belongs in some stupid pulp fiction novel, not in a courtroom which is supposed to be about truth and justice. The psychiatrist is just voicing conjecture or what the deviant person wants her to say, which should mean nothing in a court of law, because it is as likely to be a lie, as the truth. No one but God will know besides the person who did the crime and he will never be unbiased. Actions should be judged.....evil should not be minimized and justified by pretending people have no control over their behavior.
Well... "storming" out is a reporter's hype. She left the courtroom for a private room, followed by her mother. So what? I would imagine she was getting pretty tired of hearing about the guy.
She's going to have some serious psychological issues for a long time. I hope she is able to someday have something like a normal life.
Could it be because of his disgusting, shameless lawyers?First they argued that he didnt take her across State lines to have sex with her (arguing no Federal jurisdiciton), now theyre saying he's just some crazy religious guy who should get off with a stint in a Psych house.
Fact is, he raped her continuously for 9 months, would come back from town telling her he's going to f@@k her brains out,often pumped her full of alchohol and drugs, made her look at pornographic pictures and so on. This is no "religious messiah"; he's a sick peadophile.
IMO he ought to be sent to the worst lockdown in the State for life, and made into somebodys girl friend.

And if I were the prosecution I would present pictures of “sexy aliens” like T’Pol from Star Trek ask “is this a sexually attractive woman?” to the witnesses and after compiling a list of affirmatives submit to the court that “men wanting to have sex with aliens” is not unusual and therefore the defendant’s belief of “an imaginary zion” or “creating a new race” in not deviant and, therefore, cannot be used to justify an ‘insanity’ plea.
She possibly still identifies with her former captor. How often and for how long can a woman be ravished sexually and remain untwisted mentally and/or spiritually? She’s carrying mental, spiritual and emotional scars that will be with her all her life.
You’ve swerved into a question that all woman (once they hit an age of reason/understanding of evil - unlike the innocent Elizabeth Smart) eventually ask themselves. It’s a question men never have to confront, hence they aren’t even aware that all women have a hidden answer to the unspoken question of what she would do if faced with a rapist. I determined early in life that I would fight to the death...preferably his.
