The JFK mourning was continual for me, everybody at Catholic school was weeping, wailing, and gnashing teeth, and then at home, the entire house seemed draped in black crepe.

When we first heard of it we were roller-skating in the basement, of all things. I then went to a friend's house for a sleepover, and was shocked when her mother began hysterically crying. I'd never seen an adult do such a thing.

I remember that the coverage seemed to be non-stop on TV.
