Seems like that would be a lot batter than a ratty old RV." Dude, there isn't a military man in their group. Just a hick cop with a misplaced sense of priorities. The rest of the characters seem to be insurance salesmen and clerks at Orange Julius. None of those people know how to operate a crew-served weapon, let alone drive an APC.
Hell, they've just got to the point where everyone has a friggin' *pump action shotgun*.
