Yahoo Inc. is preparing to cut as many as 650 jobs, or almost 5 percent of its workforce, as early as Tuesday, people familiar with the situation tell the Wall Street Journal.
The cuts are the latest effort by the struggling Internet media company to streamline operations and cut costs as it attempts a multiyear turnaround effort under Chief Executive Carol Bartz.

Bad news for the straight people who keep themselves clean.

And how many times has the dear president, Geithner, or Bernanke, or whatever self-proclaimed economist tried to tell us the recession is over?
-This is getting a little rediculous. Just at least tell us we’re all in for years of hurt at least. That would be honest!

I know how u felt. Years ago right after university, I got laid off by this psycho B*tch of a boss right b4 the 24th. I just didnt allow her to ruin my Christmas but I did advertise her extension number at the office to the hooker and escort line at the local paper afterwards...

LOL....good for you!
When I was let go I thought about putting in an anonymous call to my ex-boss’s wife with info about him and his assistant, who happens to “take care” of him when he needs stress relief. His wife would know it to be true because his assistant divulged information to my wife when they were best friends, as well as a few of their other friend's. I didn't do it, but when I hear about the crappy things he's done to the other employees since I've been gone, I kinda wish I did.

It is very sad when people are laid off. However, at least private businesses can be and have to be honest about what they can afford. In the middle of this recession, the federal government has gone on a hiring spree, and if Obamacare is not repealed, will hire many more. And federal government doesn’t cut back in lean years like private business does.

Maybe if their website didn’t suck so bad they wouldn’t have to do this.

Thank God that nasty government hires those disabled veteran's that you are spewing about. Get over yourself.

Well when I was laid off it was more of a political thing, thus my stinging attitude toward my former employer. Yes, he's a crappy owner, and yes he treats the rest of the employees like crap, but no, there wasn't a reason in hell I should have been let go. I did 70% of the work in our art department, while the other whiners had it cu-sh, I was let go because the Guy is a Narcissus who couldn't get over that my wife left for a better job. That was the reason plain and simple!
No one messes with the little god.

I'm not sure what you mean, but maybe you are illustrating my opinion that Freepers want smaller government, except for the particular little arrangements that benefit them. Well, I can understand that, I paid FICA taxes and I want to draw my Social Security payments! Merry Christmas!
