f First Lady Michelle Obama has her way, every public school cafeteria across this great nation will have a salad bar full of lettuce, carrots, and communism. The First Lady's Let's Move Salad Bars To Schools program aims to put 6,000 kid-sized salad bars in schools. Each salad bar costs $2,500, and the whole program costs $15 million. So on top of promoting a vegetable-y socialist agenda, they're also expensive! (Schools are being encouraged to raise part of the money themselves.) Big government run amock! The goal of course is to hoodwink children into eating their vegetables. >>>

The goal of course is to hoodwink children into eating their vegetables. According to Obama, "When [vegetables] are set up all pretty and nice like this you might want to try some and maybe try some things you've never had before, right?" Look out, public schools: Kids are going to demand their pizza and french fries. And then will come inevitable friots. You'd think child obesity was like a problem or something.

WAX PAPER! How did I forget that??? Our sandwiches and other items were also in wax paper.

We didn’t have much for store-bought sweets, but Mom made a batch of something every week from which things would end up in our bag lunches: Choco-chip cookies, brownies, oatmeal muffins, and many other things.

Oh, YEAH! And some people want Michelle’s plan? Are they that clueless?

Memories are great. We survived by the love of our parents and grandparents. I pray the children of the future will have fond family memories.

I’d rather be fat than shallow, mean, and obnoxious like you appear to be.

*I* am responsible for my children’s diet, not another government program. I’m not sure this is the right website for you.

To 28 - Of course they will, as well as go to the food court at the mall, and all the fast-food joints around town. MO knows her efforts are futile, she is doing it only to create the illusion that she is really doing something worthwhile. She's craves a legacy, which would be utterly comical if it weren't for the taxpayers’ money being used to bankroll her idiotic scheme.

No one has mentioned one important fact that the free lunch program is also being expanded, They have already got many on the FLP. If the child has ever been on food stamps, they must be put on Free Lunch. Every one will be on unemployment Benefits which will support our economy. Ask any one looking for a Christmas Job.

That’s a good memory.

Memories.... I try to forget the bad ones and hang onto the good.

To think, I drank water from a garden hose and filled my mouth with as many sticks of Juicy Fruit gum that I could possibly stuff in there. Little did my generation know... we were all cheating death. ;>)

Welfare recipients need to be chemically neutered until such time as they can demonstrate themselves to be financially non-dependent on the taxpayer's dime.

I am willing to run for public office on that platform - just to be the a-hole to at least get the debate started.

There are more fat kids (and fat people) than there used to be, but I live in close vicinity to a grade school, junior high and high school and I observe those kids all the time.

Most of them are skinny.

They put on the weight later.

Find another hobby, Michelle, one that won’t cost us so much money.

Bingo! When I was in school I always ate in the cafeteria, had meat, potatoes or hamburgers, etc., at break we could purchase nice home-made pasteries, we could buy cokes, etc. I was skinny as a rail as were most of my friends; what was different? PE plus a lot of us walked to school v taking school buses or being dropped off by a parent.

My grandma wrapped my sandwich with waxed paper.

I go so far back that we wrapped 4 sandwiches by cutting up the double layer waxed paper that bread came in. Waxed paper from a roll was a luxury. Kids back then ate more wholesome food and walked most places. No one I knew was obese. It's harder now with all the processed food and cars.

Forget the salad bars let the kids walk to school, they get slimmer and the taxpayers save the busing costs.

Ya know, I only know of one over weight child in our Catholic class room of 60 students - half fifth grade and half sixth grade. The Nun kept control of us all. She had a talk to us about being kind to ‘Tommy’who was fat. Tommy had many friends the next day. There was no bullying. If the Nun saw it, she nipped it in the bud.

WHAT is fat? I mean, I know a fat kid when I see him/her....but, by gov’t standards I’d probably be considered fat, because of my BMI....I’m actually athletically built and always have been active....and therein lies the problem.....what are the STANDARDS for FAT going to be? What we need is LESS GOVERNMENT IN SCHOOLS....NOT MORE. In fact, it’s time to BMI every bureaucrat....and fire them if they are above the “government approved level.” OH, and furthermore....less options at the schools would probably be healthier...make the PARENTS RESPONSIBLE!/rant

Is this spinach fair-trade and dolphin-safe?

I don’t hear socialists giving a rat’s olberman if the software code they are using is “fair trade” with benefits and industry-rate wages being paid to the developers.

When President Barack Obama said that Republicans would HAVE to sit at the “back of the bus” he made an UGLY racist statment, that his policies are racist “retribution” for injustices he never even suffered, growing up living abroad in Indonesia.

He may sign the paperwork, but he will never represent this nation or unite the people. He’s a lifelong red diaper doper baby and is doing his damnedest to tear the scabs off of decades old wounds.

Does this guy look like a fatass?

No, but he's sporting some fancy duds there with a pair of bacon-pants. Just the thing to beat back nannystaters and Islamonazis.
