And a boxing movie that doesnt promote the culture of death? Wont winCinderella Man was pretty damn good. I know they pushed the New Deal, but was plesantly surprised in how they treated religion in the film.

What a load of crap.
A couple of dozens of film critics cheering for Moore or Gore is as little representative of Europeans as Hollywoood is of Americans.
Nota bene: Europeans have been voting for conservative governments, Americans for Marxism. Perhaps it pains the author too much to face reality and the result is denial and a search for a scapegoat to vent his frustration.

Don’t think that the Golden Globe November 5 deadline for nominations and the film’s December 22 release date had anything to do with this “snub?”
To: 2ndDivisionVet
Oscar nomination ballots were sent out on Monday, December 27 with a deadline of Jan 14, 2011. A film that was only released five days before probably wont be included no matter how good it is.

A movie like “True Grit” could make tens of millions and yet these morons would rather award a movie about homos that barely breaks even and other than people with the same tastes nobody will be willing to spend 0.05 cents and walk more than two steps to watch the loser that received the awarded.

I did not like the first True Grit.
Horrible, simply horrible acting by Glenn Campbell ruined every scene he was involved in.
He stunk up the screen so badly that even John Wayne could not save it, and it was disgraceful that True Grit was picked to give John Wayne an Oscar that he earned in the Movie “The Quiet Man.”

Searching around it does look like “True Grit” will be up for several Oscars but still the late release date may hurt it which is the studio's fault if they wanted Oscars for this one.
All films released during the nomination period should be on equal footing but it doesn't work that way in real life. A movie released very early or late in the year has to fight against movies that were released at just the right time for nominations.

Or the Searchers. But Kim Darby was okay. Have always liked Campbell’s music, though.

Euroweenies do not like westerns. They prefer existential homosexual orgies and self flagellation. Not always true, they liked "Broke Back Mounting".

I'm going to see it today. You can count the number of movies I've gone to in the last 10 years on one hand. I loved the original, but I understand this one is actually truer to the book, the acting is out of this world, and in general it's a great movie.
I've watched the original probably 20 time, one of my all time favorites, we'll see what this remake is like.
