How does anyone know what the policies of the Honolulu papers were were 50 years ago or whether they also allowed additional announcements ?

” The Advertiser’s Marsha McFadden told WND at the time of Obama’s birth announcement, the newspaper got all of its information from the state Department of Health.
That would include the address.”

“If we published it, it came from the state,” she said.

Here’s video of Mary McFadden.

Unless she’s a time traveler
how would she know what did or
didn’t happen 50 years ago at the Honolulu paper ?
Or if a worker did a favor for a friend and added a birth announcement ?

Organizations tend to keep records of their policies. That’s how we know that there was a Constitutional Convention that drafted the Constitution, even though that happened 224 years ago.
Why would the section of the paper be entitled “Health Bureau Statistics” if the data didn’t come from the Health Bureau?
How would anyone ever be able to prove, fifty years later that a “worker did a favor for a friend?”

The previous governor of Hawai’i, Linda Lingle said the following in a radio interview: “You know, during the campaign of 2008, I was actually in the mainland campaigning for Sen. McCain. This issue kept coming up so much in the campaign, and again I think it’s one of those issues that is simply a distraction from the more critical issues that are facing the country. And so I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact. And yet people continue to call up and e-mail and want to make it an issue. And I think it’s, again, a horrible distraction for the country by those people who continue this. ... It’s been established. He was born here.”

You quote Hawaiian Governor Lingle as follows:
And so I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact.
Well, that's NOT what the news release said, nor was it a "news release" it was a "statement release", see following. The pertinent article excerpt is as follows:
Obama's Birth Certificate Verified By State
Health Department Receives Multiple Requests For Copies
POSTED: 12:12 pm HST October 31, 2008
UPDATED: 1:26 pm HST November 1, 2008

HONOLULU -- The state's Department of Health director on Friday released a statement verifying the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama birth certificate. ...

"There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record," DOH Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said.

Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

There's really no swearing to any fact, only a official statement of only one fact, that there is something "on record" about Obama's original birth certificate. It doesn't even have to mean, read carefully, that there is any original birth certificate. The official statement is so tersely worded and lacking detail that even a entry in a log of records indicating that there was no original birth certificate would satisfy it.

In an interview -- which is not an official statement, and certainly not under oath, Governor Lingle is putting words in other's mouths -- hearsay. Indirect hearsay. Weak, not conclusive, very poor evidence. Courts and hearing boards could not accept it. Why should we?

And psychologically, Lingle's need to use verbal reinforcements to assert the "fact" nature is troubling. In underlined those in the excerpt.

Note how the reinforcers bracket the reference "born at Kapi’olani Hospital". Thus I suspect that statement is NOT a fact.

You’re not seriously comparing the workers at the Honolulu Star Advertiser of 50 years ago with the Founding Fathers, are you ?

” Linda Lingle ....we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. “

Lingle is obviously confused about the statements her administration issued.
We won’t know if she is also confused about the
specific hospital of Obama’s birth
until the official birth certificate is publicly released.
She does however confirm that there is an unreleased birth certificate on file.
Unless she’s also confused about that.
