More likely it would incite you to invent memories. I’m happy that’s not happened in this case.
“Invented” memories would be easy to verify and discount: such as the schoolteacher who “remembered” a conversation wth an OB/GYN that she claimed was the one who had delivered Obama. He had recently passed away (how convenient!) so couldn’t confirm (or deny) the story. Unfortunately, upon further research, the good doctor had evidently quit delivering babies several years BEFORE Obama’s birth. Oops!
