The House of Palin is crumbling, at least if you're willing to believe the most notorious liars in media, the National Enquirer, who report today that Todd Palin, the famed "First Dude" and father of five, cheated on Sarah Palin, potential presidential hopeful, with a "female massage therapist who was busted for prostitution!" Shailey Tripp, the woman in question, does at the very least exist in Wasilla, Alaska, but beyond that, the tabloid's tip comes from an anonymous email address, thepalinmorals@hotmail.com, who writes: "My sources reveal that a massage therapist and computer technologist, SHAILEY TRIPP, had an affair with Todd Palin that lead (sic) to her arrest March of 2010." Could it be?
Probably not, but here's more from the Enquirer's online tease for their print issue (buy the issue, they say!):
"According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex. It was the same tenants who called the police on her."
An ENQUIRER investigation has confirmed Tripp, 36, was arrested on March 4, 2010 in Anchorage and charged with maintaining a house of prostitution.
Tripp pleaded no contest on June 13, 2010 with sentencing set for June 15, 2011. She agreed to complete 80 hours of volunteer service, not post advertisements on CraigsList and pay a fine of $500. If she meets with these conditions, Tripp can withdraw her plea at the sentencing hearing and the case will be dismissed, records show.

FR is full of speculation. We speculated about edwards’s guilt. About algore’s guilt with his masseuse. Maybe Todd cheated, maybe he didn’t. I hope he didn’t .
In my own experience, I've seen men and women throw away their families and primary relationships when they didn't feel that they were being respected or listened to. We need to remember that the wedding isn't the last day of courtship, love and support. It should be the first in our new role as spouse.
Without speaking to the truth or falsehood of this story, some people have affairs or sleep around when they feel abandoned in their primary relationship.
Some men do it because they think their spouse gets more attention (maybe her job is more important or she earns more, etc); or that their spouse is ignoring them. Many (most?) men like to feel in charge of things, and don't want to be seen as being supported by a woman.
Men have traditionally been the protectors, the hunters, the providers. When they aren't or can't be, some men find that emasculating and seek to exert their power however they can.

Some cheaters want to get caught. They want things to come to a head so that they can deal with the underlying issues, or because they've had "enough", or because they're at a point where they want to punish their spouse.
Would you risk contracting vile forms of crot-rot which you would then infest your wife with?
Depends on how angry the man was, how emasculating the primary relationship is, and probably any number of other things.

Yes, lets all hope, and in the meantime, “we” can all have some fun speculating. So what if a good man’s reputation is forever lost?
The big difference is that Edwards has always been known to be a liar and a creep, we have not indication that Mr. Palin is.
Was it true about Sarah before or Todd's dalliances before?
Was it true that Sarah's son was really her daughters?
They only want to place doubt in your mind..they do that and they win!!

Well, I feel it would be hypocritical to believe every word the enquirer says about libs and deny everything they say about pubbies.
Psychologically I could see how a strong tough guy like Todd could have issues with his wife being a) so powerful and b) so absent!!!
Of course I hope it’s not true, but if it is true, i pray the palin marriage gets through it.
That’s funny, it has the exact opposite effect on me. While I haven’t made my mind up who I would support, this kind of stuff actually makes me want to defend her.

Hey, people, don’t take it out on me. I didn’t cheat with Todd. If I speculate on this rumor being true, for psychological reasons, I am not your enemy. Read post 104 above by something bunny. She has written a very good explanation for why such a dalliance can happen. A strong man, feeling emasculated, might do something like this.

A strong man will never feel emasculated, a weak man will. That would just be an excuse for cheating.
They are really piling on Palin. She must be a real threat. During the 2008 election she wanted to vet Obama publicly, McCain wouldn’t allow it.
Believe me, good strong men are not perfect and sometimes feel less than at their manliest by a situation. There is no perfect man on earth.
I feel bad for the palins if there is any truth to this, because I believe they love each other, but it’s hard for a powerful woman, being served all day as a media personality, to come home once or twice a week and then become submissive.
It’s asking a lot of the palins to keep their marriage going strong under the conditions. I hope they are up for it.
You write this and why should I not respond to you? I can't respond to everyone I think is fantasizing as if the hotmail sender was true in fact--the name alone of the hotmailer used was almost stalking or on a bigger mission than just going after Todd.

I think all your generalized points are valid and not too many husbands have dealt with a star VP candidate dealing with the before and aftermath of having a DS child.
But it would be nobody else’s business even if it were true. Gov. Haley marched on despite more salacious direct allegations. They are just trying to throw everything conceivable at the Palins to see if they can keep her from running. My hope, of course, is that they don’t succeed.

They went after Sarah, It continues to fail.
They went after her kids, that too failed.
Now they go are going after her husband who is her confidant. This is the 1st time if my memory is correct, they directly went after him.
This too will fail IMHO...
