I’m a big fan of the horror genre, but it’s very, very hard to get me jumpy anymore, because let’s face it, I’ve pretty much seen everything. I bought the original Dead Space, and...it scared the living @&%$ out of me. I was on pins and needles the entire frik’n time I was playing. Most times I could only play for maybe 30 minutes at a time (this coming from a guy known to devour games in a single sitting). If Dead Space 2 is anything like the original, I think this article is overstating the ‘gore factor’. There really wasn’t that much gore, and over the top disgusting factor in the first. What made the game great was that it played on a human’s most primal fears: darkness, confined spaces, never knowing when or where something might jump out at you.

I am right with you. I love survivor horror games, and Dead Space scared the &@#$ out of me as well. Dead Space 2 is an excellent game, but IMHO, not as scary as the first. I do love the fact that you can maneuver in zero gravity. The scariest parts is when Nicole confronts you at random points in the game. All in all, a great game. Have you played it yet?
