I know I am a minority on this issue here on this sight, I grew up with these people and have worked with them all my life and I AM sympathetic to their plight. Growing up our church has supported them, as a youth I took mission trips and my father in retirement took many trips down to help them, for me it is not a simple or obvious.

I'll tread very carefully here since out of respect to your tenure here on FR, your born on date trumps mine since I'm merely a n00b (in spite of just being short of 70 in real life).

With that caveat out of the way, sympathy has nothing to do with it. The Constitution and law are what matters when a situation is evaluated. An activist Supreme Court, in many cases drawing upon mere sympathy, has overturned proper laws and created "rights" out of thin air.

This woman and her family are criminals who have disobeyed a fundamental principle of our Republic. I don't care one iota about her looks, her religion, her politics (which are doubtlessly liberal), her job skills, her work ethic or any other traits. In the eyes of the law, she's a law breaker and must be punished.

Empathize but do not sympathize.

I grew up in Texas and also have been around illegals.

They are NOT the same as they were back in the 70’s.

They are violent, and if not violent themselves, they hire violent men to help them sneak across the border. And many times when intercepted by the Border Patrol they fight. . .injuring the Agents. . .and if they don't fight, they let the others fight for them, aiming to injure, maim or murder the Agent. So, is it just peachy for you that they escape to live the life of plenty here in the US, leaving an Agent's blood in the sand. . .after all, the daughter can now be raised here in the US.

If ops-sec would allow, I would post a picture of my son (a Border Patrol Agent) and this picture would show how he looked after an attack from those “poor suffering” illegals, just making their way north with their wife and children.

Rubbish.

If not for his training my son would have been seriously injured, if not killed. . .by “poor innocent” illegals just trying to make a better life for themselves.

Yeah, their country sucks. They should deal with it, change it, make it better, instead they march north into our country and are now trying to force us to become the cesspool of a nation they just left.

Years ago they ran under the radar, making what they could, keeping out of trouble. Not any more. They are brazen in their illegality and contemptuous of our laws, customs and border.

Deport them all. It is the fault of the parents, and the fact that the parent are hiding to avoid deportation alongside their daughter, THAT speaks volumes about the agenda at play here. . .if not volumes about their cold-heart and selfish motives.

I, too, grew up with “these people,” and I lived in Mexico for several years. I always think it is interesting to ask people who support open borders how many more people they think we should allow to immigrate here. The population of Mexico is 111 million. Last year, the Pew Hispanic Institute, a research organization, polled Mexicans and reported that one third of them want to immigrate to the US. That would be about 40 million more uneducated, poverty-stricken Mexicans entering our country; 10 percent of the Mexican population already has immigrated here. So my question for you is, how many more Mexicans do you think we should allow to immigrate here out of the goodness of our hearts? How many do you think we can we absorb and pay for? What percentage of that 40 million would you admit?
