My favorite was “Leave it to Cleaver.”

You mean that "Make room for Daddy" was not a typical Arab-American familly?That goes to the heart of the issue, doesn't it.
That was an American family, albeit a wealthy one, of Lebanese descent. Close enough to Arab so as not to matter (back then.)
It was not a typical Arab-anything family. Makes a huge difference.
