I have to say the real failure here is on the part of Raese and the Republicans. Joe Manchin shot a bullet through the “Cap and Trade” bill and that created a perception that he was somehow conservative. Raese and the GOP did not do a good enough job pointing out the obvious—that Manchin would be Harry Reid’s b___tch whenever his vote was really needed.
The other side of the coin is that perhaps West Virginians really aren’t that conservative. Its a populist state that isn’t comfortable with wine and cheese Limousine Libs like Obama but that doesn’t make them conservative. Maybe they really want Communist medicine.

West Virginians are pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-coal and pro-military.
They are also pro-lawyer and pro-government cheese. Good golly, are they ever pro-government cheese.
They are the epitome of the Mike Huckabee so-con constituency.
