Arizona Joins Mississippi to Build the Border Fence!

Press Release

Monday Feb. 7, 2011, Phoenix, AZ State lawmakers in Arizona filed a Border Fence Fund Bill today joining the State of Mississippi in an unprecedented effort to get the border fence built by the States without waiting for the Federal Government to do it. Representative Michelle B. Ugenti of Arizona filed the bill on behalf of the North Phoenix Tea Party, the Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots and the Mississippi Patriots. Representative David Burnell Smith of Arizona co-sponsored the bill. Mississippi’s bill, SB 2255, which was authored by Senator Joey Fillingane, will fund the border fence by imposing a user fee on money wire transfers out of the country from people unlawfully present in the United States. Arizona’s HB 2677 is very similar. It will establish a fund using fees on remittances collected from the unlawfully present that will be used to build the border fence. Arizona and Mississippi are urging other States to join them now in passing this legislation in their States. If just half the States participate, $1.2 billion dollars can be raised annually for the border fence using a 5% fee.

Churches, missionaries, non-profits and legitimate businesses are exempt from the fee in SB 2255.

The United States spends $113 billion dollars annually on education, medical care and incarceration of illegal aliens.

$46 billion dollars annually in remittances are sent to other countries instead of being spent here. Remittances, in some countries are the number one source of their GDP.

It is time for the States to start protecting the very lives of American citizens and the budgets of communities throughout the Nation. States often send aid to other States when they are hit by disaster. Americans getting killed in our border States everyday qualifies. States will need to change the way we proceed when it comes to a point that the Federal Government shirks their responsibility for decades.

State lawmakers are initially in shock with the concept of sending money to another State, even temporarily. However, once they realize the benefits that their State will gain, they are all for it. Other legislators, who would rather spend the money for other illegal immigration charges, are putting their finger in a dam that has burst while their town is under water.

The citizens of the United States have spoken clearly on this issue for years. They want a border fence built and protected. They feel very strongly about our border security, however, Washington DC is only concerned about where their next vote will come from. Only until Americans accept another amnesty bill first, will the Federal Government take our National Security seriously. Then they will argue about where the money will come from for years.

States are capable of defending the Nation if we work together. After all we are the United States of America not the divided States of America. We embrace personal responsibility.

SB 2255 passed in the Judiciary A Committee on Feb. 1, 2011. It is now awaiting a vote from the Finance Committee before going to the floor of the full Senate.

Americans have a voice to propose ideas in the Tea Party movement.
Call your State Legislators, join Mississippi and Arizona.

Nice. Hopefully they will toss McCain over the fence when it is done. Good to see the states are starting to say - ENOUGH!

Mississippi is building a fence?

I love it. Great idea.

“...imposing a user fee on money wire transfers out of the country from people unlawfully present in the United States...”

I don’t understand how they propose to determine who is who when doing this.
Will you have to prove your citizenship at western union or what?

Kudos on getting the ball rolling. Although I questioned why Mississippi and other non-border states, it takes on the air of a State’s Rights mutiny. I have notified my local Tea Party group whose defacto leader has a great link to the new Governor’s office. We need to end the reign of the regime of brat children running DC.

fees on remittances collected from the unlawfully present

Who has to do the check? Western Union office? What documentation can they ask for? While I am not against this idea, I am concerned with how it will be enforced.

Also - notice a bit below in the article - exceptions made for churches, missionaries, non-profits, etc. So what stops another over-zelous Catholic Priest/Bishop to step in and "aid" these illegals in avoiding the "cruel tax"?

Another question is just which section of the border will be fenced. Much of it is federal property, and any proposal will have to be cleared through wildlife agencies (in the name of species protection by securing migratory cross-border pathways).

What about illegitimate businesses, like houses of prostitution, drug dealers, crooked pawn shops, etc.? Are they taxed? LOL.

I thought the Mississippi bill also allowed you to claim the fees against your state return so that net amount would be zero for US Citizens.

“NOr do I really understand how it relates.”

Because this story makes me think of a small 1920s grubby faced-kid, never had any luck his whole life, then one day a limosine pulls up next to him & smart classy man says “the governor is going to adopt you johnny! you’re going to have a home for Christmas! And, you’re going to be rich and influential!”

And so little Johnny is like “no foolin, mister?”

It’s kind of out of place for little Johnny, you see. Kind of unexpected. Kind of unlikely.

I mean, it’s a good movie. It’s a cool movie. We all hope for little Johnny, that perhaps, just perhaps, it could be true.

That’s how it relates.

You will have to clear e-verify as amended.

The previous version would have given all legally present a full refund on their State Income taxes.

please see mspatriots.com for all the information and step by step instructions of how to get it filed in your state.
