The Wisconsin State Capitol is currently locked down. Pro-union protesters are intimidating legislators by pounding on windows, screaming insults and vandalising public property. Above is a picture of union protestors, many of whom are teachers who called off sick to storm the Capitol. Teacher strikes are illegal in Wisconsin.
The Senate needs 20 members present for a quorum; there are 19 Republicans. Sen. Roberta Darling (R) told the media today that all Democrat Senators are on a bus heading out of the state so as to avoid quorum. The police have been dispatched to find them and drag them back to the Capitol to represent their constituents.
The events unfolding in Madison today completely validate SB 11 itself...

I would love to see a governor fire every single teacher that went on strike and replace them with non-union teachers. I guess that is why I will never be in a position of power like that. Normal hard working people that wont compromise on values are very rare in public life. Not so rare in the working class. My (very conservative) wife is a college professor in WI. I told her that whatever happens, she must NOT go on strike. I guarantee Governor Walker is reading up on how Reagan handled the air traffic controllers.

If there are pictures of people who called in sick there, that would be fraud and cause for dismissal IMO.

I think he has already called them “good people doing important work” if FOX played the right clip.

You’re free to speak all you want. You’re free to protest. You’re not free to spend the taxpayers money to pay you to protest, and you’re not free to lie about the reason you’re not showing up for work.
When I ran my company if you lied to me about why you were not coming to work your job was toast. No ifs, ands, buts or maybes, and no second chances.
Ever.
Either go back to work or get fired and replaced.
End of discussion.

This kind of meltdown is good. It needs to happen on a national scale.
Semi-anarchy is like a good puke after a drinking binge that makes you feel better almost instantly.

You can take the Kenyan out of community agitation, but you can't take the community agitation out of the Kenyan.

They ended up shutting down the schools, so it’s hard to say whether the ones protesting were the “sick leave” ones, or the ones who got out of school because of the “sick leave” ones.
To: WOBBLY BOB
I think those who show up protesting in pictures should be fired.

If they didn’t take vacation time and called in “sick”, yes.

This isn't the first time a minority party in a legislature has done this ~ usually the absentees will be portrayed as having left in a group. In reality you'll always have a couple of members "at home" or "in the office".
All you have to do is go pick one of them up and he'll go quietly.
So I suspect you are absolutely correct ~ somebody showed up!

Care to have some fun? Call and ask to be transfered to them. Jamming the hotel switchboard will make them unwanted guests in a hurry.
