Last time I made chili, it was this one. It makes a BIG batch, and I made it in a slow cooker instead of a pot.  Uses raisins from the conservative part of CA! Excellent stuff!

I know, intimately, that of which you speak.

4-way bean please...yes, cheese & onions...and a root beer...Bargs...easy on the ice.

Isn’t canned Hormel Chili akin to that SC mustard based BBQ?

“Carrots! WTF!!??”

Filler for people who complain that there aren’t any beans. They add a bit of sweetness and can be crunchy if you throw them in late in the boil.

I sometimes chop up an andouille sausage and throw it in as well.

You can always add beans at serving.

I like fresh diced onion.

Thats Kentucky chili!

Sounds like Cincinnati Chili - you got your 3-way (chili, spaghetti, and shredded cheddar), 4-way (Chili, spaghetti, cheese, and onions), and 5-way (chili, spag., cheese, onions, and beans) See Skyline Chili for mass-produced bellyaches.

I have to admit that when I was younger and not concerned about heart disease, I loved to eat Hormel chili poured over Fritos (yum yum).

To: mylife; RoadKingSE; bleach

RoadKingSE as it right. All those places bleach mentioned are Cincinnati famous chili shops. Some have opened units out of that area though. Good places for that ‘style’ of chili. Which, admittedly, is a lot different than ‘Texas Chili.’ Of which I am also familiar with - chunk beef (NOT ground) and no beans Amigo!

I also spelled ‘Barqs’ wrong its with a ‘Q’ not a ‘g.’ They make a real good orange pop and a weird fluorescent colored lime flavor that is most excellent - straight or as a mixer...heh heh heh.
