Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) once again attacked Republicans’ budget proposal on Wednesday, claiming its cuts target “little children” and “poor little boys and girls.”
He added that the spending bill, which will face a vote in the Senate later on Wednesday afternoon, is “insulting” to the American people.
“H.R. 1 is a mean-spirited bill that would cut the heart out of the recovery that we have in America today,” said Reid. “It goes after little children, poor little boys and girls ... we want them to learn to read.”

Reid? Can’t be more stupid/ignorant than that...We’ve already thrown enough money at education and the poor little boys and girls STILL can’t read.....that means they will become dem voters so that should make Harry happy.

Listen to yourself, Harry. You just let out a litany of insults in that one statement. First of all, there is no recovery in America. Children will learn to read, but the educational system set up by liberals like you makes it pretty hard to educate them. Why are so many of them poor. The poor have been sanctioned by your idea of government. You have taken away their pride and hope. When they reach adulthood their chains and shackles will be even heaver than the previous generation's.

Why should adults have to make all the sacrifices?
The Republicans are proposing to cut an amount ($60B) equivalent to 1.67% (less than 2%) of a massively-bloated Federal budget. The Democrats propose to cut just 0.167% from the budget (less than 2/10's of 1%).
The Democrat proposal, if enacted would cut an amount equivalent to 0.375% of the projected 2011 deficit ($6 billion out of $1.6T), or, to put it another way: the amount of debt Washington will incur in the next 33 hours. But Harry's just worried about "the children", see?

My old man used to say if you could just cut off New England and let it drift out into the Atlantic, the US would be much better off. Beginning to think the same think about the Pacific coast states as well.
I think the little boys and girls can’t read in large part because of the money we’ve thrown at education. It’s gone to support bureaucrats and unions and it’s more about diluting curicculum and protecting the worst students and teachers. Return the control to the state and local level and there will be fewer problem schools, fewer “supervisors”, fewer problem teachers and better performance. And we’ll save money.
