It wasn’t Lloyd, who is the president of NAACPC, it was Frantz Emmanuel Kebreau, the national director :)

Hey friend, know you must have been extra tired when you read my post. I did say Frantz spoke and that he is Director of NAACPC. Just added that our own Florida Freeper, Lloyd Marcus, is President of NAACPC. Sure most Florida Freepers know that.

I was involved in one of the first introductory events of NAACPC which was held in Orlando in July/2010 by Dan Fanelli, who ran for Congress in the Republican Primary from District 8. Both Frantz and Lloyd spoke at that event.
It was wonderful, and here is the video clip for Florida patriots who missed it!

I was asked to share the comments I made to the FL House members during the House Committee Hearing on the Education Bill. Here is my little speech which I am pleased to say was well received.

Good Morning,
I am here to speak in support of House Bill 7019.

My name is Jean Morris and I am from St. Petersburg, Fl. My teaching career in Public Schools began in Connecticut way back in 1963, and continued in Pinellas County Florida from 1969 through 2006. I retired in June of 2006 from the profession I loved for 43 years, to spend more time with my sweetheart.

Through my 43 years of teaching five and six year old children, I have observed the very best and the worst in teaching. It has always been my opinion that teachers who love children and love teaching, know in their hearts if they are excellent at what they do and whether or not they are providing the best for their students. I was a teacher for 43 years, who had tenure. But I knew I never needed it because my heart was in my work, and my work spoke for itself. I believe excellent teachers know they do not need “tenure” in order to have job security.

Tenure has provided a safe haven for many teachers who really should have chosen a different profession. With tenure in place, schools are stifled by not being able to let go of the people who are not doing the best for their students; in other words, the focus is not on what is best for our children, but rather on providing job security. The “Last in, First out” policy is outdated and has no place in a system that is focused on putting students first. I can tell you what this policy brought one state: It caused their Teacher of the Year to be laid off during cuts last year because she did not have tenure. You might be interested to know where that happened. It was in Wisconsin.

Everyone knows if you cannot let poor quality employees go, you cannot hire better employees with the lure of higher salaries. This is true in the business world as well as education. No amount of money will improve education if you can not terminate bad employees. I believe quality teachers know this is true. They have no doubt had the experience of working along side a teacher whose classroom they would avoid for their own children, and whom they wish would leave the teaching profession.

What this bill does, is celebrate our best teachers and offer them recognition and rewards for the hard work they do, every single day. It is time the teaching profession is able to clean their ranks of teachers who are not, for various reasons, providing the best educational experiences for students.

I urge all members of the Florida House to pass House Bill 7019.

Thank you for listening.
