In Op-Ed, President Obama Advocates For ‘Common Sense’ Gun Control

On a smaller platform than some may have hoped, President Obama wrote an op-ed in today’s Arizona Daily Star launching his intention to tackle serious and “common sense” gun control. Two months after the Tucson, Arizona shooting tragedy, Obama seems to be searching for middle ground on the issue in an effort to protect “our children’s futures.”

Obama first reaffirmed he has no intention of confiscating guns:

Now, like the majority of Americans, I believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. . . . And, in fact, my administration has not curtailed the rights of gun owners – it has expanded them, including allowing people to carry their guns in national parks and wildlife refuges.

And Obama discussed his awareness of how difficult it will be to approach an issue that both sides feel so passionately about:

The intersection of common sense and O’Bambi forms the null set.

Common sense gun control...as in taking firearms away from responsible law abiding citizens and giving them to his militia.

Did he actually write it? Did he use more of those boating analogies that he had in his book?

Common sense gun control: keep you power dry for criminals either private or Obama’s personal military.

Obama and “common sense” are polar opposites.

Better be at your favorite gun store early tomorrow because there will be another run on guns and ammo. This is the only industry BO has managed to stimulate since he took office.

The definition of “common sense” to a Tyrant is different that the definition of the same term to a Plebe or Peasant.

How about a little common sense government before we start worrying about “gun control” there Skippy?

"I know that every time we try to talk about guns, it can reinforce stark divides. People shout at one another, which makes it impossible to listen. We mire ourselves in stalemate, which makes it impossible to get to where we need to go as a country.

Yeah, it's that same implication again, that Conservatives are being uncivil because they refuse to let the left have it's way on something again, and in this case, gun control. More Ad-Hominem, Strawmen and Hypocrisy from The Won. Where was the 'New Tone' in Wisconsin? Can't Bammy answer that? Leave our 2nd Amendment alone, Obummer. We don't want you anywhere near the issue of gun control because we know what you really want.

Yeah, his administration was really behind that effort. He is claiming credit for another one of his failures in leadership. He wanted a credit card law and the GOP tacked this onto the bill. Now that makes him pro 2nd amendment?

Could you imagine if VP candidate Sarah Palin had mentioned forming her own “army” the way Zero did?

The press would have hounded her every day about what she meant by it.

Sorry Skippy, "the churldren" are going to need those guns in their future in order to shoot something to eat and defend themselves from others trying to steal their food and take over their cave.

We already have common sense gun control. It’s called the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. It works.

well then.....he should get rid of the some 20-30,000 gun laws on the books.......

and put in his 1 “common sense” law..........which should be a reaffirmation of the 2nd Amend.

or.......just enforce the laws on the books

If Obama really wants to “Protect our childrens future” he will take no further steps in curtailing a persons right to purchase and bear arms....

But he is a radical leftist and he just doesn’t get that point at all...

Thankfully, San Fran Nan and the dems no longer control the House of Representatives or we would likely see “commonsense” gun control passed via reconciliation.

Don’t forget that Obama was a director of The Joyce Foundation, which is anti-gun.
