What is it with the quotation marks copied from DU?

They never seem to be straight. (Much like the people being quoted.)

“She said it was “long term” (3 month) milk”

http://www.packworld.com/article-9045

Refrigerated milks and shakes with a 90-day shelf life are making a splash in Canada for Natrel. The Longueuil, Quebec-based dairy is the first North American user of an integrated ultra-high-temperature processing/aseptic filling system that produces the beverages.

Did I read this correctly that she didn’t stock up on powdered milk but bought regular jugs? Does she know this spoils? :-)

She said

We both got about three cases of 1 liter milk that lasts
"milk that lasts" may be her technical term for UHT(Ultra Heat Treated) long life milk, which lasts 6-9 months at room temperature (unopened - break the seal and all bets are off)

3 x 12 pack cartons will run out before it expires on time.

(But nadia is still an idjit)

I think she bought the shelf stable milk that comes in boxes. It doesn’t have to be refrigerated. She’s still weird.

Heck, I’m really happy if I can finish the half gallon before it starts going sour. And she’s stockpiling the stuff?? :-)

Sounds like it would taste terrible.

Since radiation seems so atracted to milk, perhaps I should patent a new kind of radiation suit.

Maybe they should be dumping milk on the No 3 reactor at Fukushimi. Whole milk - not that 1% or skim stuff!

It does.

In my opinion it is only one step better than powdered milk on the “Yuck Factor” Scale.

I think it will probably taste just fine. I buy ultra-Pasteurized half-and-half at Costco and once opened it keeps for close to two weeks. If this particular kind of milk comes available I have no doubt I’ll buy it.

Whatever that is

It's probably irradiated.

Hah! I forgot about that guy -- good point. He still is on the loose ... somewhere (probably writing love sonnets to Castro and Hugo)...

The funny thing is that shelf stable milk is irradiated!!!

I actually developed a taste for the stuff when I was in the Navy. It doesn’t quite taste like milk but it is pretty good ice cold.

It's probably irradiated.

That was my thought. Isn't that long-term milk irradiated in the carton to sterilize it?

No small irony, that. :-)

Nadin is hilarious. Definitely a “DUmmie of the Year” contender. I was beginning to withdraw from the lack DUFUs. Nice work picking up the slack.

PJ probably got some coupons and went to stock up on milk

I would like to stock up on Potassium Iodide pills. Milk I did stock up on last Fall when I got Lactaid milk for just 76 cents per gallon after coupons. Would love that deal again...as long as the milk doesn't glow.
