So you know more than people who have filed affidavits in court about SSNs, and 99.9% of birthers. If you look at the 042-68-#### series, you can see that there's a broad range of birthdates that doesn't make sense if they were sequential. And the SSA has even announced in the past that they are not assigned sequentially. So it is hard to believe that those pushing these stories are not just trying to distract conservatives from the real issues.
Also, note that some areas are running out of numbers while other areas have excess, so later this year, they are going to stop doing the geographic thing and will just assign them all randomly.
Frankly I find the SS# question an even redder legal herring than the birth certificate. I keep asking why it is significant and if anyone truly believes that even multiple SS#s would ever be prosecuted much less held up in court if those courts have chosen to overlook the more legitimate Constitutional questions. There are some ‘birthers’ who have deep, historical knowledge I couldn’t begin to touch; others, not so much.
I merely posted about my own experience applying simultaneously for three (3) SS#’s. If called upon (not likely) I would be willing to swear to that experience and its result in a court of law. To what avail, God only knows.
I would note that my spouse and 3 children were born in the same jurisdiction from which their SS#’s were issued. All four fall within a similar, if not identical, series for ‘area number’ as the SSA terms the first 3 digits. That difference, of course, would be attributable to the intervening decades between their births.
I have dealt with clients born in that same jurisdiction that has already surpassed the numbering formerly used and whose area number is completely different from my family’s area number series. So there are new overlay numbers already in play, much like cell phones.

WITHOUT EXCEPTION, the issuing state was CT. Thus, if there’s definitive evidence Obama used an SSN starting with that sequence, that seems highly suspicious. Is there any reason to doubt the claims this number appears on various official records attributable to Obama?
