Not if we occupy Libya (a la Iraq and Afghanistan)
Woulda, coulda, shoulda, mighta, maybe, what if, if, if, if, if, if, if.......
We ain’t there yet, and other than just a handful of Special Forces that may be on the ground to help support these air attacks, I see absolutely no reason to put any of our troops in Libya.
The goal all along should have been to prevent Kadaffy from firing on his own civilians, and we had the moral authority to do that as soon as it started almost a month ago. We are not trying to take Libya away from the Libyans, we are trying to take Kadaffy away from Libya and turn the Country over to the people who live there.
No, airstrikes and cruise missiles by themselves will not solve this problem, and there will be plenty of work for France and Italy to do to help clean up Libya.
Leadership is what’s needed over there and Sarcozy is the strongest European leader I’d like to see help take charge of Libya. Maybe we can convince the French that they need to re-colonize Libya for a while and let them do some diplomatic sweating about what comes after.
What I hear right now from you and many others here at FR is opposition to Premier Hussein taking action in Libya, and that is after many of those same people have been castigating him for months over doing nothing while the Middle East burns, late on Egypt, voting “present” on Libya, bitching that he’s a flip-flopper, and every other complaint under the sun.
Frankly it sounds a lot like the DUer’s around here and it proves that if you plot people on a Bell Curve by the things they say politically, most would end up at the top of the curve while the Far Left and the Far Right balance each other out in nearly equal numbers.
The bottom line here is that you cannot have things both ways, and the fact of the matter is that the attacks are well under way and are continuing as we argue here. Let’s move on with reality and current events, shall we??
