Two bad moves by Obama.

He didn't ask Congress, thereby violating the Constitution.

He did ask the UN, thereby implying that we need their permission to take military action.

The UN charter prohibits action by the UN to overthrow the government of a member nation. This action seems to be intended to restrict the response by a member nation against a political faction engaged in violent insurrection.
It doesn’t smell right and I haven’t sorted it out.
One issue that bothers me is the taking of substantial action due solely to UN instructions/resolutions/agreements without consulting Congress. This sets a precedence that weakens protective barriers against implementing UN instructions/resolutions/agreements that would apply inside the US.
I haven’t sorted out this one either and it REALLY smells bad.
One concern is the usual UN firearms restriction proposals that are now enhanced as the office of the president now displays fealty to the UN without concern for US institutions.
