Obviously, you do not understand how the Oil Industry works.

Your Populist plan to redistribute those Oil Company “profits” (wealth) among the American people would be less than a few dollars per person.

It's a simple fact that the very strongest oil companies, barely net between 5 to 8 percent profit, after they pay all the other Federal taxes, operating costs, environmental regulations, state taxes, drilling fees, etc,. And what little they salvage from all the handouts they are required to currently give, they would simply go broke, quit or go elsewhere.

You also are not very well schooled in Alaska History. Palins additional tax she imposed on Alaska oil companies did more damage to the industry than it helped.

Since 1976, Jay Hammond installed a plan where the Oil Companies would pay most of Alaska State's operating costs, (Called the Permanent Fund Dividend.) which averaged around 75% of the States revenues. It was also agreed that anything left over would be shared with each and every resident. (Which averages $1,000 per person annually) And the residents of the State pay no income taxes resulting from this plan.

Under the Permanent Fund Dividend plan, there was very little profit left to share, but the state benefited by all the people it employed and the economy it supported. Especially by the taxes they did not have to pay.

Palin’s punitive tax, in addition to the huge amount the Oil Industry was already paying, hindered new exploration and greatly slowed down the industry.

This is the reason that the new Governor who replaced her, lifted that tax to allow the Oil Companies to drill for new reserves again. Palin’s pipeline campaign is also considered to have been a waste of time. Even though she made the claim and took credit for building that pipeline, it never made it out of the planning stages and is now dead.

I could say the same about you..
Who OWNS the oil(coal, gas, etc.) being exploited?..

The people in Alaska do.. NOT the people of the U.S..
The oil and other resource companys do NOT own the resource.. they MUST pay for it..
Federal taxes on Alaska's resources is obscene AND theft..
ONLY the people in the State OWN these resources..

Palin had to Force the oil companys to drill and UN-cap existing wells.. for fear of losing leases..
The story of why she had to "FORCE THEM" is a story NOT YET heard by anyone..
THIS story is "to date" UNTOLD... UNKNOWN by almost every one..

Note: Palin had to fight the republicans more than the democrats to do this.. Kinda makes you put your finger to your head and go.. HMMMM... Don't it..

Um ... kind of like it really behooves companies like Chevron to be producing expensive ad campaigns expressing the crucial need for urgency in finding "alternative energy" options, and how proud they are to support quests to develope wind, solar, and algae (I kid you not) as alternative energy sources.

There was a time only a few years ago when I automatically defaulted to the sides of the oil industry and would have been inclined to believe your post at face value. It was especially disturbing when I saw folks talk about how Palin "created a windfall profits tax on oil companies," so I did my due diligence and investigated it so I would know early not to jump on the bandwagon of an insupportable candidate and would do my best to inform fellow conservatives here, as well.

After considerable digging and reading, I learned that the charges of "windfall profits tax" were complete hooey and downright lies, though the charge was most eloquently presented by "pros" in the oil industry. It was very disillusioning. Oil companies are no less sleazy than the politicians whose palms they grease.

The veil has been lifted from my eyes.

You smell like yesterday's diapers, Psycho.

Thanks for spreading mainstream media propaganda on FR. You've just joined their ranks as a useful idiot.

ACES increased investment. Look it up.

What you mean you aren’t for taxing or taking from the producers and giving a little bit to each and everyone. Hell I thought the “share the wealth plan” was a staple for all to aspire to. Remember Huey Long of Louisina? No thanks on such a plan.
