As to Trump, well, that's a relatively recent phenomenon, but it hasn't really changed the MSM's appraoch to the issue. Yes, it has them talking about it more, but it hasn't made them take it seriously. That's because there is already enough evidence in the public domain to prove Obama's eligibility beyond reasonable doubt, so the story is more about Trump's being an oddball more than anything else.

You don't seem to understand how great it is from an anti-Obama point of view of having Trump constantly in the news discussing this Obama birth certificate issue, even if much of the news media paints the self-made billionaire as an "oddball" when it comes to this Obama birth certificate issue: It keeps the controversy surrounding Obama's long form birth certificate in the news now and all the way through the presidential campaign, even if the Obama camp probably wishes beyond hope that Trump and his Obama birth certificate controversy would quietly disappear before the 2012 presidential campaign heats up in a few months.
Pro-Obama supporters and pro-Obama news media can mock and ridicule Trump as much as they want, for instance, by calling Trump an "oddball", but one thing is for sure: The news media can't and won't ignore Trump.
In addition, the more pro-Obama supporters and pro-Obama news media mock and make fun of Trump, the more they keep Trump and the Obama long form birth certificate controversy in the public spotlight, and, I would guess, that is the last thing that the Obama camp wants to happen.
Thus, I say this to "oddball" Trump: Trump, it seems a lot of news media people are calling you an "oddball", but remember that he who laughs last, laughs best. So keep up the good work.
Trump, if your continual demand on Obama to release his long form birth certificate finally forces Obama to do so, then I say that you done good, because your single-handed effort might be a key reason why Obama is defeated in 2012 and does not serve a second term.
