Thanks- I'll keep that in mind. Berkey actually suggests adding a bit of bleach to non-tap water and then using the filtration system to get out the dead yuckies (it's a technical term) and the bleach. I'm not crazy about the idea of feeding my kids bleach, so using the Berkey is preferable to me. It was expensive, but I think of it as an investment. Plus, we can use it when we take the kids camping. My main prepping objective is to provide for my family should disaster strike. My secondary objective is to show my children where their food comes from by gardening with heirloom seeds and collecting rain water for gardening (and potentially human) use.
