Jon Stewart’s Right On Corporations
Creating Orwellian Worldview ^ | 4/6/11 | Alaphiah

Posted on 04/06/2011 8:11:41 AM PDT by Alaphiah123

Jon Stewart is right. While demonizing unions Conservatives all too often over look the total destruction that Corporations have waged on the American economy and the American Middle Class (see 4:49min video)

I am not newcomer to the argument that Corporations are ungrateful, unpatriotic out of control entities that have abused America and the American people to maximize their profits. (see previous posts below)

Everything that is wrong in America today can be blamed on an out-of-control corporate environment that will do anything and everything for the sake of the bottom line. Profit!—Alaphiah (source) ***

America is bleeding.

For decades, American corporations without any fidelity to the country of their birth have been outsourcing the manufacturing base and economic infrastructure of America to India and China for slave labor wages and usurious profits.

There is no such thing as an “American” Corporation, they are global entities, and they have no loyalty to any flag. Capital is global, and no rant is going to change that fact.

What bothers me the most about liberals, Obama, and John Stewart (not his real name) is the fact that they will bash corporations, while intentionally ignoring the big payouts to Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac execs...and it was the melt down at these two government sponsored corps that started the economic downturn.

Ignoring the fact that Jon Stewart is wrong, not right, have you ever considered that blogs are really just small corporations? Everything for the sake of profit! No better than steenkin' GM! And that this blog being pimped is EXACTLY what the author seems to be ranting about (very poorly I might add). In other words ...

Blogs (like orwellianworldviewbigbrotheranimalfarm) are ungrateful, unpatriotic out of control entities that have abused America and the American people to maximize their profits, and thereby have waged total destruction on the American economy and the American Middle Class!

John Stewart (not his real name)

What? A Jewish entertainer changing his name? Who ever heard of such a thing?

They're idiots. They bash big business, but they want to hand everything over to the biggest business on earth - the Federal Government, which, incidentally, has the power to take from you and even put you to death.

“Spoken like a true fan of the COMMIE Pinko union thugs. The reason jobs went overseas is to get out of the grasp of the unions. When you have to charge $3000 extra on the price of a car you are trying to sell, just to make up what is owed in benefits to the workers, you to would send factories to Mexico, CHINA, et al.”

Everything that is wrong in America today can be blamed on an out-of-control Federal Government that will do anything and everything to confiscate all individual wealth.

There! I fixed it.

As long as I am using a Henry Higgins reference, I might as well take the time to point out that as a further example of your linguistically challenged writing style(?) you made incorrect use of a contraction in your title.

It is never permissible to contract the verb “is” and append it to a proper name. That usage is reserved for indicating possession.

There are dozens of posters on FreeRepublic who write much better commentary for free than the drivel you seem to think we should pay you for. (Talk about corporate greed!)

I’m glad you picked that up.

I didn’t read the twaddle, I assumed from the title
that Stewart owned some corporations under the umbrella
name “Right On”.

Too much benefit, not enough doubt.

The reason jobs went overseas is to get out of the grasp of the unions.

If that were true, then they would have moved to Mississippi, not Malaysia. They also left Mississippi.

Yeah they should focus on being patriots and go out of business if that's what it takes to make their point.

Yeah, it's perfectly acceptable to expect a man to sacrifice his life for patriotism, but not a corporation to sacrifice its bottom line.Yeah.

What are the corporate tax rate difference between the US and foreign countries? Just using your example, Malaysia has a 25% tax and the US has a minimum 35% tax. Between that and an overbearing Union structure, are you going to waste time moving to MS or just get out of here all together.

Feel free to buy into Jon Leibowitz’s Marxist ideals that corporations are evil. I on the other hand blame Gov’t and Unions.

Something about that argument doesn’t add up to me. I’m not being snarky - just looking for an intelligent response. If it’s OK to send jobs to other countries to increase profit - should it be OK to just hire illegals here in the U.S.? It sounds a lot like the “just doing the jobs Americans won’t” argument.

Why do you think corporations are some sort of instrument other than making money. Do people invest their retirement money in them to make a difference in social policies or create jobs? No, they want a return on that invested dollar. All this would be a mute point if the US was friendly to business as it had been in the past. We are now the worst. If your job is to keep the company alive, why would you stay here when your competitor overseas is going to bury you.

I am a small business owner. The last thing I worry about is keeping people employed. I am there to make money with my enterprise. When I make cash, people work. When I am not making money, I am getting out of it, workers fend for yourself.

I don't see how hiring illegals factors into any of this. Is it not illegal to hire them? Since it is, our laws should be enforced to end it. Is it illegal to make a profitable enterprise? I did not know making profits in this country was all of a sudden illegal.

Yeah, those unions which make up all of 6.9% of the private workforce.

So if it were illegal to move those jobs overseas, you'd oppose companies doing it on the basis of it being illegal?

I don’t think that. Not at all.

I’m just trying to figure out how sending U.S. jobs to other countries and giving U.S. jobs to illegals in our own country will end with a different result or has a different goal. Still not very clear to me.

I know one is legal and one isn’t (kick the illegals out - now!) but the end result is the same. The “Just doing the jobs Americans won’t” mantra isn’t too far off from sending my job to China near as I can tell. I’d gladly work any job for half what some union hog makes.

I’m not a business owner so I don’t have to walk in your shoes. No argument there.
