I don’t question her allegiance to the US of A. On the other point, I sense that she’s a skilled politician who’s positioned herself with an anti-Washington base. There’s nothing new about the game. But whether her politically conservative credentials are genuine or not isn’t really the question raised by my comment. She’s now a power broker and well-paid commentator. I know of only one person with a similar background who turned back to politics: Pat Buchanan (and I don’t recall him being able to broker as much power). There were certainly people who were just as enthusiastic about his run for the presidency as some people now are for Palin.

The notion that winning the White House would be a downward trend in the career of an individual is completely absurd.

I’m sure it’s privately considered absurd even by those in the anti-Palin movement (they have publicly pretended otherwise ever since they first invented the absurdity a few months ago).
