Unfortunately there are lots of areas in the U.S. now where you can’t burn wood - it causes global warming or some such crap don’t you know!
My family used to do the Kerosene heater thing in the winter time, all huddled in one room. Blocking off a room with even some sheets does wonders. I have a section of my kitchen and furnace room that can accomodate.
