I been reading your judgmental comments concerning the "slavers" and the 1861 secession "pushers", and you don't have a clue. I am a direct descendant of the "slaver" and the "pushers", and can tell you, the traditions passed down were those of evangelism, discipleship, and education, the proven way to a better life for all. You might want to read the complete "Slave Narratives". There were the Simon Legrees, as in any society. . . but there were a goodly number dedicated to the good, equipping all for freedom. . . TRUE freedom not bondage in another form. Here is an example. . . to not focus on the material as solution, but to trust the Lord when you find yourself in seasons of darkness. . . . and hey, bet those principles were put to good use when your Uncle Billy and his criminals for hire, came to town to murder, rape, rob defenseless women and children, black and white, regardless of age. So enjoy and witness the fruit of how my line and most lines of "slavers" and "pushers" ended up.

Thanks for the reasonable post, it's about the first one on this thread from those opposed to my viewpoint. I'm glad to see you included "evangelism". When one seeks to be a spokesman for God, one's going to get struck down as Paul did on the road to Damascus if one needs waking up to evil (and I hope I'm not asking for it here). Paul did an evil act in holding the coats while Stephen was killed, the South did evil in seceding for slavery. Paul came to do great things and the South has also since 1865.

"The Great Commission" was already in practice throughout the South before, during, and after "the war".. .

and continues to be our legacy and our strength. That's why we are still here.

Might want to study the histories of southern African American Churches ALREADY in operation on the eve of the war.

On the road to Damascus, God opened Paul's eyes to the "Truth Of Christ" . . . quiet literally.
Paul was on his way to destroy more growing Christian Churches. The Lord Jesus stopped him in his tracks, then sent Saul on a lengthy sabbatical for the newly blind.

Yeah Paul, along with ALL Of US, sometimes sin. Thankfully, Christ paid the price with His death over 2,000 years ago at Calvary. . .

once and for all.

the South did evil in seceding for slavery.

Once again. . . slowly. . . the reason was "States Rights". Kinda like what's happening today. . . once again.

BTW, I hate slavery, would never support it, nor do I know of anyone so depraved they would.
