The ages-old practice of the literary art of satire is most successful when it's the piece is so close to reality the discriminating reader is fooled, then wakes up, and then is profoundly, albeit sometimes ruefully, amused at the wit and cleverness of the author.
Famous satirists through the centuries include the Roman poet, Horace, also Alexander Pope ("The Rape of the Lock"), Daniel Defoe who wrote "Robinson Crusoe" and Joseph Heller ("Catch 22")
