“.i actually believe he was born in Hawaii, and he was adopted by Soetoro. that his name was legally changed, and he never legally changed it back.”

yes I’m pretty sure this is what the real problem is as well. also add in using the soetoro alias to get foreign student scholarships as well.

Attorney Hemenway, of Hollister v Soetoro tried to get to the bottom of this "name" thing. His request to the SCOTUS was dismissed w/o comment, twice.

The deal is that if he were legally adopted by Soetoro, which is likely, but not actually known, two things would happen:
(1) His name would be changed from "Obama" to "Soetoro," or similar Indonesian moniker
(2) The original LFBC, if indeed there ever were one, would be amended. The original would then be sealed and a new BC issued in Barry's new adopted name. SOP in most jurisdictions.

Hemenway thinks that is what happened. After leaving Indonesia, Barry Soetoro never petitioned the courts to change his name back. Not only that, on his Illinois Bar Application, he denied ever using the Soetoro name, or other alias. That took nerve! So it is entirely possible that he has been cruising for 30 years with a name not strictly and legally his. Actually this would ordinarily not be a hanging offense for an ordinary civilian. After a while the name you're using can actually get to be yours with ID and everything. Just don't ask for a security clearance. For an attorney, or for a Presidential candidate IT IS A VERY VERY BIG DEAL. So Hemenway thinks that is why Obama/Soetoro pressured everyone to keep the records under wraps ... and not just the BC.

But while we find this endlessly fascinating, the SCOTUS simply dismissed the whole thing with no comment. Read Hemenway's excellent brief at www.scribd.com/.../Berg-Hollister-v-Soetoro-aka-Obama-Biden-Complaint - Cached - Similar
