Your assuming that Jews weren't attracted to communism. The sad truth is a very large number were. The association between secular Jews and marxism, particularly prior to the collapse of Soviet socialism, was quite strong.
Most American Jews still value their secular progressive agenda more than they do the well being of Israel. Obama will get between 70-80% of the Jewish vote almost no matter what he does.
The Jewish vote is not worth chasing. Conservatives will never get it. Some outreach to the Jewish community is fine, but we've got to have very low expectations because this voting block is about as hopeless as the blacks.

The problem is, that while the Jewish citizenry is a small percentage of the voting population, they are a significant portion of the large donors to the DNC.
If they were to break from the DNC in any great percentage, it could be crippling to the Left. And don’t they know it!
